On January 21st 2016, Horizon Science Academy Middle School hosted their annual science fair. HSA honors students grades 6th-8th spent three months working on their projects.
They began with developing a scientific, testable question and each student developed their unique project from there. Twenty Judges from the community were invited to come view, and give feedback on the students projects. This provided a great opportunity for students to interact with professionals in multiple STEM fields.
In addition to the annual science fair, this year students participated in our first Math and Science Night. Students participated in several math and science activities, including; reptile show, bookmark making, paper rockets, math puzzles and tower building.
This time also provided an opportunity for the students to show off their hard work to parents, families and teacher. Overall, the science fair provided an opportunity for students to explore STEM topics outside of the curriculum. The students worked hard, and had a lot of FUN!
