ty1HSA Columbus Middle School hosted Ty Sells as a guest speaker to our 6th grade students as part of our Character Education curriculum. Ty Sells is an individual who cares deeply for the well being of youth. He is a graduate of the Ohio State University and works for the drug prevention/ youth leadership program, Youth to Youth International. He has spoken at hundreds of school assemblies and presented conference keynotes throughout the world, including every state in the U.S., Germany, Japan, Canada, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, and Italy. During our one-hour assembly, Ty addressed the students about such issues as preventing negative choices, including drugs and alcohol, being aware of our biases and stereotyping, and accepting ourselves as who we are. 6th graders had a good time listening to Ty as they were attentive, interactive, and interested. They also appeared to have a lot of fun as Ty was really good at incorporating humor when giving important messages about teen issues. We feel honored to have hosted Ty Sells and are looking forward to future arrangements with Youth to Youth International for our students.
