Cleveland Clinic Banner School Recognition

Dear Principal Akkaya,

This year has posed unprecedented challenges to educational organizations across the country and around the world. The resolve, ingenuity, and adaptability you have shown in response to COVID-19 were evident long before this pandemic, however, and have distinguished Horizon Science Academy Middle School as a 2019–2020 Cleveland Clinic Banner School. This award recognizes your noteworthy success in leveraging community resources to advance student learning.

Cleveland Clinic K–12 Education offers School Programs designed to promote health and wellness, academic achievement, and career preparedness for students in grades K through 12. It takes ambitious teachers and encourages administrators, though, to deliver these opportunities to students. The effort Naima Ali invested in implementing the Adventures in Health Science and Medicine® Program and the support you provided in the process demonstrate an exceptional commitment to student enrichment and distinguish Horizon Science Academy Middle School as a 2019–2020 Cleveland Clinic Banner School: a distinction earned by fewer than 24% of the 264 schools in ten states that participated in our K–12 Education School Programs this year.

In recognition of your achievement, we present you with the attached virtual banner, which can be displayed on your website or in school publications, along with printable versions of the award. And we proudly acknowledge you here, on our own website, as an exceptional partner in education.

On behalf of the entire K–12 Education School Programs Department, I thank and congratulate you for being a 2019–2020 Cleveland Clinic Banner School, and I wish you continued success and good health in the year ahead.
