Design, write and use lesson plans; teach science courses to middle school students through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations; implement appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and equipment to ensure comprehension of learning styles and student needs; establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these objectives to students; prepare students for science related competitions and standardized tests; coordinate school science fairs and/or extracurricular activities as assigned; employ technology practices to strengthen the instructional process; help students assess and enhance their study methods and habits; do formal and informal testing to evaluate student success; prepare classroom to enhance learning and to aid in physical, social and emotional development of students; ensure necessary and reasonable measures are taken to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities; provide input on book, equipment and material selection; establish communication rapport with parents, students, principals and teachers through meetings and conferences; gather, manage, and maintain all reports, records, and other required documents; be active in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and assist in staff committees as necessary.

Bachelor’s degree in Science Edu, Physics, Biology, or Chemistry plus 24 months full-time experience in the job at community school environment including writing lesson plans, coordinating science fairs and/or extracurricular activities; Ohio State teaching license in science (at least 5 year long term substitute license) required; M-F,40 hrs/wk; Send resume (by mail only) to Hasan Akkaya, Horizon Science Academy Columbus Middle School, 2350 Morse Road, Columbus, OH 43229.
